Paris Vs New York
Typographic maps
Axis Maps just released their mapping / art project Typographic Maps. These unique maps accurately depict the streets and highways, parks, neighborhoods, coastlines, and physical features of the city using nothing but type. Only by manually weaving together thousands upon thousands of carefully placed words does the full picture of the city emerge. Every single piece of type was manually placed, a process that took hundreds of hours to complete for each map.

Creative Chocolate
A set of creative chocolates entitled Crave Sydney 2009.
This set was created in 3DS Max and Vray Australia designer Rachael Dunk. Each chocolate represents a different event that took place around Sydney for October 2009.
Its still in the concept phase for now. Hope it won't be too long before they actually start producing.
Would be cool to see it applied to different countries/cities.

Jell-O San Francisco
Liz Hickok creates scale models of urban sites (like San Francisco here) entirely in Jell-O. Luminously glowing, the fragile medium bears odd similarities to the city’s uncertain geological landscape.

Meta-Housing: Super-Sized Hotel Made of Stacked-Up Homes
This new hotel in the Netherlands has sparked a great deal of conversation by using the traditional form of regional homes and cottages in a surrealistic stack (some even seeming to sit sideways or upside-down) as part of a relatively huge city-central structure.
The Inntel Hotel, designed by Molenaar & Van Winden Architecten + WAM Architecten features 160 rooms and sits 11 stories high, towering over much of its surroundings and sticking out for miles around – for better or worse – from its urban landscape. From their overall forms down to the white and green facades, wood-carved decor and window treatments, the component ‘houses’ in the design were patterned after actual conventional structures in the area.

Largest Disco Ball In History: Paris' Nuit Blanche
French artist Michel de Broin built a massive disco ball that measures 23.6-feet in diameter and contains a whopping 1,000 individual mirrors. Then he attached the sphere to a crane 165-feet in the air and suspended it in the Jardin du Luxembourg during the Nuit Blanche event in Paris. After directing spotlights at it from various locations around the city, de Broin hit a switch and let the party commence.

NYC Condom Package
Two years ago, the City of New York's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene,
unveiled the city's first official condom on valentine's day. the original design features the letters 'NYC CONDOM' in the iconic style of the city's subway-line logos.
To keep things interesting, the city is giving new york city dwellers the chance to promote safer sex throughout the city. They're asking New Yorkers to design a special edition wrapper for NYC's iconic prophylactic. The contest is open to any New York City resident 17 and older. The winning design will grace condom packages in fall of 2010 and could also appear in social marketing campaigns.

Custom-Made Street Clocks
Fluid Forms lets you punch in any zip code to create a design based on a map of that location. You can completely customize the design by choosing exactly where on the map to zoom in on. Zoom all the way in on your street or zoom out to show the entire city. Street Clocks are available in a variety of colors like orange, green, blue, red, white and more.

Official 2014 Olympics Games Logo Revealed
We’ve waited—and we’ve even seen some early concepts—but today the official Sochi 2014 logo was unveiled in Russia.
"Developed by Interbrand in conjunction with Sochi’s own brand council, the new logo is simpler than anything we’ve seen in recent history. Stepping away from the traditional practice of incorporating an abstract cultural image (London 2012 excluded), Russia opted for an all typrographic treatment for the Winter Olympic Games in 2014.
Spelling out sochi2014.ru in lowercase rounded lettering, the logo is an Olympic first to incorporate a web address. Perhaps symbolizing the city’s location on the Black Sea, the letterforms in ‘2014’ typographically mirror those of ‘Sochi,’ somewhat resembling a reflection on water."

New York City And Paris Map Cuts
A cut out map of the entire cities of New York and Paris.
Insane! That definitely required a great deal of patience and time, so its no surprise that both maps are one-of-a-kind. The NYC one is sold for $550 while the Paris one is for $250.

Just Launched: Monopoly City Streets.
Google teamed up with Monopoly and created an online version of the infamous game. The game uses uses Google Maps as the board and players can choose any street from around the world to buy. You can build football stadiums, skyscrapers and ofcourse the usual houses and hotels. You can even build prisons and rubbish dumps on your opponents' streets! the game is a collaboration between Hasbro and Google. Check it out!

Race for the 2016 Olympics
