Nuqat: Kuwait Design Conference
So one of my university buddies has managed to curate a one-of-a-kind design conference in Kuwait. Many more of these are needed in the Arab world. So please show your support in any way possible, including just spreading the word. Wish I could attend...
"We would like to announce the start of the biggest Design conference in Kuwait, Nuqat, from the 26th-28th of October. Upon starting Nuqat we had one objective in mind and that is “to develop arab creativity on all levels” be it in design, advertising, architecture, fashion, production and all the creative fields. The conference will include 4 lectures and 2 workshops per day for 3 days! Big designer names such as Reza Abedini, Tarek Atrissi and Rana Salam and much more will provide both lectures and workshops. As well as an exhibition with artists such as Experiment 1, Dr Farid Abdal, REUSE, Tabouq and much more. Not forgetting night performances by Loyac's theatre performance "Ommar Al Khayyam", followed by film screening on another night.
The topic for this year will be visual pollution in the arab world.
Registration is now online on www.nuqatfoundation.com
Lectures and workshops are paid for, and attending exhibition and night performance is for free.
Check out the website, facebook and twitter page."
Creative Chocolate
A set of creative chocolates entitled Crave Sydney 2009.
This set was created in 3DS Max and Vray Australia designer Rachael Dunk. Each chocolate represents a different event that took place around Sydney for October 2009.
Its still in the concept phase for now. Hope it won't be too long before they actually start producing.
Would be cool to see it applied to different countries/cities.

Google Is Crazy About The World Cup
We’ve seen Google change its logo for big events before, but this time it chose to do something different.
If you search for “World Cup" in Google, you’ll get a list of the upcoming World Cup games, but if you scroll to the bottom, you’ll see that the other Google logo, stationed above the result page numbers, has changed to Goooooooal!
Google has also added an awesome little easter egg to the service when one surfs through maps of South Africa: a vuvuzela clutched in peg man’s hot little hands!
Google owned YouTube has also decided to grace us with a dedicated vuvuzela button.
The football-shaped button sits in the lower right corner, and does precisely what you feared: It produces the dreadful vuvuzela sound!

Largest Disco Ball In History: Paris' Nuit Blanche
French artist Michel de Broin built a massive disco ball that measures 23.6-feet in diameter and contains a whopping 1,000 individual mirrors. Then he attached the sphere to a crane 165-feet in the air and suspended it in the Jardin du Luxembourg during the Nuit Blanche event in Paris. After directing spotlights at it from various locations around the city, de Broin hit a switch and let the party commence.
