3D Illusion To Slow Down Traffic

Preventable, BCAA Traffic Safety Foundation, and the District of West Vancouver have launched a 3D illusion geared to make drivers slow down at high-risk intersections.

An optical illusion of a little girl chasing a ball has been installed.
The 3D illusion rises up gradually from about 100 feet away and fades away by the time a driver approaches.

Warning signs leading up to the illusion were installed to prepare drivers.
The goal is to draw attention to the risk of children running onto the road.

Ceci N'est Pas Un Livre

Having a French book among your other books might impress some people. Having this book 'Ceci n'est pas un livre' (which translates into: 'This is not a book') is specially impressive, cause it's not really a book, it's actually a fake book that attaches securely to your wall and holds your real books, giving them an impressive floating effect.

Varini's Optical Illusions

Felice Varini is known for creating illusions of flat graphics on 3 dimensional spaces. From a fixed viewpoint these graphics will look falt.

His latest project Cercle et Suite D'eclats takes on the challenge of working at a much bigger scale, the scale of a village. In this project, he superimposed perfect circles on a town called Vercorin in the Swiss Alps. From within the village, the graphics are fragmented and don't make much sense, but from a distance, the lines form a series of rings!!!

More of his work after the jump.
