IKEA Now Organizes Your Desktop!

IKEA created a downloadable folder that consists of a background picture of an EXPEDIT storage unit and an icon set made of IKEA's very own organizers.
So you can basically put all your files/folders in the "organizers" and stack them up!

Pretty cool! Unfortunately the set is only currently downloadable in 3 countries for now: Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

The Flying Carpet

Using digital Iranian artist Seyed Alavi had an aerial view of the Sacramento River woven into a carpet for the floor of a pedestrian bridge connecting the Sacramento International Airport terminal to the parking garage.

The carpet can be read and experienced as a “welcome mat” for visitors arriving in Sacramento.

Fluid Vase

The fluid vase by Fung Kwok Pan from Singapore is a customizable vase that takes its form through an interactive digital design interface. The vase’s form simulates the moving fluid, something that is directly linked to the function of a vase. 

Users can specify various aspects of the design to create a unique one off edition for themselves. Adjustments like the speed and volume of water used can be altered and 

the final design is created through 3d printing technologies. 

The digital simulations are based on video of flowing water captured through high speed cameras.

The Smart Finger Digital Measuring Tool

Smart Fingers turn your hands into ruler. It uses two fingers, the pair of plastic tubes slip over your real fingers and measure the distance between themselves. The distance is displayed on the side of one of the fingers, you can store it in memory for transfer to a PC.

Designed by Choi Hyong-Suk, Jung Ji-hye, and Yoo-Jin Park. Currently it is just a concept.

Digital Trash Can Made Of Paper

Codeco has transformed the classic trash can computer icon into a paper cut project that brings the digital image to life. the design uses a single sheet of paper, which is cut-out, folded into form and glued together.

The template for the design is available for download through their site and could easily

This is the latest fantasy technology by designer Michael Powers.
Its an 81-inch by 31-inch digital blackboard and work table. It has everything a designer could ever want; such as Photoshop, a virtual keyboard and mouse, markers, tape, rulers, a digital camera and an external hard drive. You can flip the board vertically for presentations. As said on Design Crave; "Pricing and availability? One million Space Bucks, when pigs fly."
